18th July.   Dave Betteridge qualifies for the National Championships at Leamington Spa at the end of August

8th March.   Just a month to go before the 2017 season gets underway, time to get all clothes ready, bowls polished and body in condition. Time to introduce some friends to this lovely game of ours.                         

10th December.   Trowbridge Town Bowls Club sends their best wishes for a great Christmas to all surfers, friends and families.                                                                     

16th November.   Club members and guests had a very successful evening  at the Annual Dinner and presentation of prizes held at the Farmhouse, Southwick.

      

22nd October.   A.G.M. earlier today, Dave Betteridge moved up to President with Terry Dickson as Vice President, Fiona joins the committee and Mo to social committee otherwise offices in same hands.  Please give them all the support you can and make it a great year.

20th September.  End of a great season,    Monday Mixed League Winners.  Ladies Nor-West League 5th in first division.  Triples League  up to 5th this year. Tea & Biscuits Leagues all mid division a bit disappointing.   Friendly matches  we won approx two thirds of games played.  Well done to all club competition winners  and runners up - winners on right under Competition - 2016.    All keep fit and healthy and return next April.

29th August.  Claire and Matt Edwards win Dorothy House Mixed Pairs Tournament defeating Karen & Les Kirby with a winning draw shot with the last wood.   Many thanks to all that attended this great day. 


9th Aug. Season going well, North Wilts Mixed League - sitting at top of League. Nor West Ladies having a good season mid league, Thursday Triples also mid league.

Mens county unbadged - T Dickson and D Betteridge through to Quarter final playoffs at Chippenham Town Saturday Sept 3rd 1pm.  Supporters welcome.


31st May.   Sweet Dreams win the  2016 Carnival Tournament, defeating The Reds in a close final.

A big thank you to all involved.

14th April.   We are now open, getting practice in, enjoying the good weather, join us now before all the rains and winds reduce the pleasure.

 

13th March. Less than a month to go. We start on April 9th when its time to pay your subs, but we would love to see you the weekend before  to  get the club ship shape (that's April 2nd & 3rd) 


31st January. A terrible start to 2016,During January we have lost two past playing members. Hugh Cleverley. R.I.P. Hugh and Frieda Griffin R.I.P. Frieda


10th October. Anthony (Tony) Angell passed away on Wednesday. R.I.P.

20th September. Thats it folks for this season, We can only look back on the season now, Great win in Monday mixed League, Ladies runners up in their League any many great games during the year. Congratulations to all Competition winners and hopefully go one better next year for runners up. Enjoy your rests, dont forget winter functions and Coffee mornings,

1st September. Karen & Les Kirby defeated Christabel & Richard Francis in a very close and exciting final of the Dorothy House Mixed Pairs Tournament yesterday. Many thanks to Sandy for organising a great day. £400 - £500 raised for the Dorothy House Hospice. Thanks to all who attended and helped.


25th May 2015. All Club final in the Carnival Tournament, with The Parkers defeating Comic Cuts on the final end. Well done all and thank you.


4th March 2015. March is here and we shall soon be out on the green, 28th of this month is pay your membership day followed by an introduction to all that goes on during the year, and then the following weekend Easter Saturday Apr 4th we can get out on the green (weather permitting) and prepare for the forthcoming season, so its time to check that our clothing has not shrunk over the winter. Lets all try and get a few more members this year



22nd January 2015. We are running 'Improve Your Bowls' sessions on Thursday afternoons 2pm start. commencing 5th February, we will combine this with an 'Introduction to Bowls' for beginners 31st October. It is with regret that we have to announce the passing of Edwin (Ted) West. R.I.P. Ted


26th October. Club A.G.M. was yesterday, a few new faces and and changes in Club Officers. Now to get on with the planing for the future, please give your help and support.


25th August. Dorothy House Mixed Pairs Day. It RAINED all day, Very wet - the winners were Mary & Bill Gale (Blue Circle) who defeated Janet & Tony Price (Downton) in an exciting final Well done to all that took part and of course the very hard working organisers. Over £500 raised for our friends at Dorothy House


24th August Congratulations to the Mens National Triples Championship winners - Graham Shadwell (past Club member), Andy Colebrooke (past Club member) and Russell Francis now playing at Spencer Moultons who defeated an Oxfordshire triple in the final 15 shots to 14.


1st August. One of our previous members Wayne Simmonds will be playing in the National Finals in Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours at Leamington Spa during this month. Good luck Wayne.


4th May. The seasons is now under-way and regular matches are being played, PLEASE PLEASE get your names down early to play in these games (either on the notice board or on the Members forum). If there are not sufficient names on lists the Captain will have to cancel the matches. Teams are selected on a Monday for the next 10 days.


4th May. Its time to get your entries in for the Trowbridge Carnival Tournament on May 26th. Lets make it a good day.


24th March. All had an excellent day at Clarrie, match result available on written request. Dont forget green opening day Sat 5th April.

14th March. Time to get every thing ready for the new outdoor season - starting on April 5th. Hope its a good season for all of us.

11th Dec. I'm sorry to have to report that Norman (Adge) Young has passed away. R.I.P. Norm. Funeral particulars here 22nd Sept. Final games have been played and green closed. A big thank you to all those that supported the Captain through a difficult time during the season. Have a good winter and come back fully refreshed for next season.

29th Aug. Dorothy House Pairs was won by Pauline and Barry Dando (Prattons) in an exciting final against Christabel and Richard Francis 18th June Our good run in the National Club Double Rink came to an end last night at Bridport B. C. (Dorset) where we were defeated by 9 shots. A good try lads.

10th June ANOTHER BIG WIN - Mens Double Rink beating Salisbury 42 -32. We are now off to play Bridport (Dorset) on Monday 17th June 6.00pm. Wootton Bassett came with a flourish over the last few ends to defeat us by 40 to 36 in the Over 60s Double Mixed rink

28th May. A very good Carnival Tournament on Monday, winners The Takeaways (Marcia, Colin, Steve and Emma) just winning by one shot from Englands Glory a TTBC team of Sandy, Larry, Sue and Beryl)


26th May. Two great wins in National Competitions. Double Mens rinks 38 -33 win against Devizes . Over 60s Double Mixed rinks 39 - 36 against Alderbury. Well done keep it up in the next rounds.

16th April. Another season underway, first outdoor match, new Captain starts with a win against Bath Post Office 93 -70. The sun is also shining in Kent

6th April We opened the doors and green today, welcome to all new comers and of course welcome back to all the old faithful's. Lets have a good season.

23rd March I am sorry to have pass on that William Pryer passed away yesterday in Bath Hospital. R.I.P Bill. Funeral particulars here #

20th March. We get under-way on April 6th at 2pm, new members very welcome. 12th March. Chairs and scoreboards are with us (NICE). Come and help get the club ready, lots of things to be done. The match against Clarrie Dunbar for the Bernie Challenge Shield takes place on Sat 23rd March, selected team is on the Forum.

3rd March. 5 weeks to go then its back outdoors, time to get started on getting everything ready, clubhouse and all equipment to have annual overall, contact Dave or Colin to make arrangements. April 6th is date we commence with treasurer wanting subs. New chairs and also scoreboards to show off soon.

16th Dec. Excellent indoor game of Bowls with North Wilts Indoor Bowls Club, Captain Colin Jolliff's first match in charge, result he is keeping it quite, jokes the same, it will all come good in the end.

2nd Dec. We managed to have a Sunday Lunch and presentation of trophies during these sad times. It went off very successfully, very nice to see the late Ron Hollands family join us for the afternoon. Presentation photos will be on this site shortly.

27th Oct. Club A.G.M. this afternoon, A minutes silence in memory of Club members Ron Hollands and Tony Hough. Many alterations in Club Officials see here who we welcome and wish a very successful year/years.

16th Oct. A very sad day for all, Ron Hollands has failed his fight against cancer. Our thoughts are with Celia and the family.

17th Sept. Thats it !!. Another summer season finished, plenty of ups and a few downs, but thats normal for all of us. Enjoy the winter and dont forget to get involved with the Winter Functions (see to your left)

15th Sept. Well done Mike and lads in White Hose League play offs, excellent league season and two great wins in the play offs but just missing out in the final.

10th Sept. Club presented with the North Wilts Mixed league Trophy again this year, after a very successful season winning by 27 points. This is the eighth time we have won this trophy since it was introduced in 1996. Well done all

3rd Sept. Dave Betteridge sadly failed in his attempt to bring home the Unbadged title, losing in the quarter finals in a very tight match. Club competition finals are underway, results will be published shortly

27th August Congratulations Wendy & Terry on winning The Dorothy House Mixed Pairs tournament on a wet and showery day, thanks to all the organisers for getting us all through the day. enjoyed by all those present.

27th July A good day at the West Wilts Tournament, Congratulations to Brian, Mike, Steve and Emma representing Clarrie Dunbar

14 July A first class day for the return match with Clarrie Dunbar indoor club, the overall result of the two matches was a win for Clarrie who were then presented with The Bernie Hateley trophy. These matches will be played each year in memory of our sadly missed good friend Bernie.

10th July County Competition Updates. Well done Christabel for getting through to the Singles semi finals, but then sadly just losing out at that late stage. Dave Betteridge is through to the quarter finals of County Unbadged competition again this year. Hopefully he will go one better this year and bring back the trophy.

1st July About half way through the outdoor season now, no two days are the same either weather wise or match results, one day good next bad. Regardless of everything we all play the game for enjoyment, I hope you all do too.

13th June The rain is back and trying to upset our fixtures, but bowls green will enjoy it. All club competition have been drawn and posted in clubhouse and on our Bowls Forum here.

5th June. Great Jubilee weekend, Sat morning we deafeated Garrards in the Tourist Trophy (in the mist), two good friendly matches in good weather on Saturday and Sunday, then on Monday we hosted the Carnival Tournament, an excellent day including the weather, thanks go to Marcia and her gang for everything on the day. Three Toons and Emma deafeating the Tryhards in the final. Photos will be posted shortly

26 May. The sun has arrived and also the players, we are now getting more players wanting to play than we have places for, we will do our best to get you as many games as possible, but be sure to get your names down for the league matches. A big welcome to all our new members

13 May We have now played Salisbury twice in the 4 rink league, winning at home and losing away, Solid defeat by the stars at Spencer Moultons in Top Club Competition this morning. A friendly this afternoon we only managed to field 6 players, our opponents lending us 4 players so we could play the game. Where is everybody, we cannot go on like this, please support the club before it is to late.

3rd May Next round of Top Club away at Spencer Moultons - Sunday 13th May 10 am.

30th April Great day for the club today, this evening saw an excellent win in the Men's National Top Club Competition against Devizes, all games being very close, that after having defeated Calne in the first Monday afternoon three rink mixed league match. Come on and get your names down for all these exciting matches.

28th April Tomorrows match against Bradford on Avon has been Cancelled

25th April. Rain, Rain, Rain, yet another two matches cancelled today. Another win against Frome Park on Sunday, now we need the league teams to perform the same, we need more members playing in the league teams.

17th April 2012 100% Played 1 Won 1 now the rain comes to try and spoil things.

15th April 2012. First friendly match today away at Bath Post Office, have a good game. Open Day yesterday thoroughly enjoyable see Open Days. Get your names down early on availability sheets or on forum for matches. Extra fixture Gents Top Club v. Devizes Monday April 30th 6.00pm.

8th April 2012 YES !! The outdoor season has started subs are coming in, and a few have had their first roll up on the green, plenty of practice time this week. First match next Sunday. Don't forget this Saturday the 14th its an Open Day so bring your friends, neighbours and families for an enjoyable day (particulars here). Lets hope we all have a great season.

March 2012 We start bowling outdoors in a months time so get all that gear ready. Check on dates and get entries in early for tournaments etc. Take a last minute holiday to get you refreshed and of course keep up to date with what happens here and on the forum

February 2012 Snow has come and gone again, maybe a bit warmer now. Sad news from Australia, one of our good friends and ex officer of the club, Reg Gooding died last weekend, he was in his 90's. Memorial service in St James Parish Church, Trowbridge Friday March 2nd at 3pm - Provisional fixture list now on this site

January 2012. Happy New Year everyone, hope its a great one for you all. After our game at North Wilts Indoor in December we now have a Indoor match at Clarrie Dunbar in Bernies memory this is now on Sunday March 25th with a return game on our green during the summer. Sorry about change of date they double booked, get your name on the availability list on our Forum here. Good bowling !

November 2011. The County A.G.M's and the County Dinners over for another year. Our Roy Jones now in office as the Senior Vice President (Have a good year Roy and all the best for your Presidency in 2013. Dave Betteridge receives his County Unbadged finalist trophy to a rowdy reception (Thanks you lads from Holt). No bottles of Scotch for us in raffle.

Our A.G.M. over. We now start planning and looking forward to the 2012 season with the Officers and committee all doing there best for the Club. Your comments and ideas are welcome please use the forum.

October 2011. Trophies presented, all games finished and another season successfully completed, the 2011 season now a thing of the past, we look forward to the winter and getting ready for the next outdoor season. The club Annual General Meeting is on the 29th October at 2pm in the Clubhouse
